You’ve chosen a luxury vacation home in “Sin City”, maybe for a classic Vegas wedding, or a bachelorette trip that will generate stories for years to come, but now what? No matter what time of year you decide to visit Las Vegas, you’re sure to find an abundance of things to do.

But when flashy attractions and casinos have lost their luster, consider heading to the great outdoors. It’s easy to forget that Las Vegas also has plenty of outdoor recreational opportunities that are just as exciting as high-stakes gaming tables and miles of sparkling lights and neon.

Whether you’re traveling with family or friends, or simply looking for a little solo adventure, here are some of the best outdoor activities to experience while you’re enjoying the many amenities of your luxury Las Vegas rental. From hikes with breath-taking views, to relaxing hot springs, there’s a little something for all tastes.

Take a day trip to an otherworldly landscape and experience the stark majesty of the Mojave Desert. One of the biggest draws of Las Vegas is its close proximity to the Mojave Desert, a beautiful landscape that’s perfect for outdoor exploration.

You can hike or bike through the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area or go ziplining, rock climbing, or horseback riding with local tour companies. Day tours run out of Las Vegas to once-in-a-lifetime destinations like Death Valley, where you can safely explore and see stunning views of mountains, valleys, sand dunes, canyons and multiple shades of mineral formations.

Spend an afternoon on the greens. Grab the gang and head to one of the many renowned Las Vegas golf courses. With more than 50 to choose from, you’ll have plenty of options, in every budget range.

Some of the most popular courses include TPC Summerlin and Royal Links Golf Club. Bali Hai Golf Club, which is the only championship course on the famed Las Vegas strip and has a distinctly Vegas vibe, offers outings for bachelor parties and group outings.

Ranked best in the state by Golf Digest, Shadow Creek has the reputation of being one of the most expensive courses built in America. A remarkable environment was created where none existed, by carving rolling hills and canyons from the flat desert floor north of Las Vegas and pumping in plenty of water. Playing here comes with a hefty price tag, but it is the best of the best.

Water Sports. You might not think “water” when you picture Vegas, but when the desert heat gets too intense and you crave more excitement than your luxury rental’s pool can provide, head to Lake Mead National Recreation Area for some refreshing fun.

It is just a short drive from Las Vegas and offers opportunities for boating, swimming, and fishing. Area outfitters offer wakeboarding, water skiing, tubing, and more, so feel free to challenge yourself with a new sport, or just relax the day away.  Of course, boat rentals are available if you want to explore together with your group.

Get your soak on. If you would rather soak in the naturally heated waters of some of the area’s hot springs, spend a day exploring Arizona Hot Springs. It’s the closest and most easily accessible spring from Las Vegas. For those of you looking for a quick soak before heading back to the excitement of the city, this is a great option.

The spring is located in Henderson, right outside of Las Vegas, making it an easy day trip by car. For more adventurous travelers visiting during the winter months, Gold Strike Hot Springs rewards expert hikers with a beautiful secluded environment accessible only by hiking a strenuous out-and-back trail and is just under an hour’s drive from the city.

Shake things up with an off-road adventure. With so much rugged terrain around Las Vegas, it’s no wonder that off-roading has become such a popular activity. You can rent an ATV, dune buggy, or even a monster truck to navigate through the desert and get that adrenaline pumping.

You don’t even need any prior off-road experience, so don’t be intimidated to get out there and try something completely new. There are several tour operators in the area that specialize in these tours, so you’ll be in the hands of experts and have the option of boulder crawling or wind-in-your-face desert driving for a totally unique thrill.

Helicopter Tours. Imagine flying over some of the world’s most stunning landscapes in your private chopper. For a truly unforgettable experience, book a helicopter tour. You’ll get a bird’s-eye view of some of the most stunning natural wonders in the area, all while enjoying the luxury of a private helicopter and personal guide.

Keep your eye out for wildlife along the way as well as impressive landmarks such as the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, and the Colorado River. Depending on the tour operator, you may have the choice to land on the floor of the Grand Canyon, spend time taking photos and toasting your adventure with a glass of champagne, and then get whisked back to the hustle and bustle of the city.

Whether you’re a nature lover or simply looking for a break from the bright lights of Las Vegas, there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy from your luxury rental. From exploring the desert to hitting the links, there’s something for everyone in this exciting destination. So book your next trip to Las Vegas and start planning your outdoor adventure today!
